Mott's Contracting Services, Inc. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What does it mean to be a licensed contractor? In Florida, licensed contractors are required to be knowledgeable in all aspects of construction, including business law and accounting. In order to obtain a license, you must pass 20 hours of rigorous exams, complete 14 hours of continuing education courses every two years, pass a background and credit check, have proof of financial stability, as well as have a licensed building contractor verify your work ability by signing your paperwork. In order to start working, the company must also maintain coverage for current general liability insurance and workers compensation.

Stuart Alfonso, the owner of Mott's Contracting Services, has met all of the requirements and holds a current Florida Certified Building Contractor's License (CBC#1252732), as well as all applicable insurances.

Why should I use a licensed contractor for my construction project? Generally, a contractor's license is required for any structural additions, roofing, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical/alarm work, pool/spa work or any job which requires a building permit.

If you do not use a licensed contractor, you can become liable if someone were to become injured on your property or damage your property. Also you don't know what quality of work you will receive. An unlicensed person is not able to pull permits which may be required by your city or county.

If you do not pull a building permit, the city or county can assess a fine and halt construction.

How much experience does Mott's have in the Tampa Bay area? We have been building in the Tampa Bay area since 1999.

Is Mott's insured? Mott's Contracting Services is fully licensed and insured well above the minimum amount required by law. We also require and verify that our subcontractors have general liability insurance and worker's compensation. TESTIMONIALS

A big thank you to all the people who worked on my house. My husband is military and has been away for quite some time so I had to organize everything. Mott's made it very easy! They provided solid advice during the contract negotiations. The work was done by highly professional people and in a timely fashion. I never once felt uncomfortable having the Mott's crew at my house while John was away. Best of all, my house looks fantastic. I sent photos of the completed work to my husband and he couldn't be more pleased. When we purchased the house he had some major reservations however having seen what Mott's has done to our house, he now cannot wait to get home and start living in it. Thank you! I will have no hesitation in recommending your company to friends and family and look forward to using your company again in the future.

Mott's blew me away with the wonderful job they did with repairs to prepare a condo for sale. They were professional, competitively priced and did an excellent job with a laundry list of repairs, including building a custom cabinet to match the others and installing/repairing ceiling fans. They can do all types of jobs. I've recommended them to everyone I know and will certainly use them again. I've used many contractors in the past and Mott's by far, surpasses any that I've used. It's wonderful to know there are competent, honest, reliable and professional contractors still out there!

My wife and I live in Oregon but have a home in Tampa in need of major renovations. We hired Mott’s to do the job. They were 'right on' with both the price they quoted, and the timeline they gave us. Anytime a change was required, they would both call and send out an up-to-the-minute contract. As everyone knows, renovations are a stressful time and being 3,000 miles away makes it twice as bad, but Stuart and his crew took digital photos during the entire process and e-mailed them to us so we could see the progress. When all the work was completed, my wife and I flew down to inspect the work and everything was absolutely perfect. I have no reservations recommending Mott’s for any work you need done. The work they did for us was not small (about $35K) so we really had to have a contractor we could count on. Thanks to Stuart and his crew, it all went off without a hitch.

The quality of work that I received on my home addition was wonderful! Their construction crews were very clean, detailed and finished projects in a timely fashion. I would recommend Mott's Contracting Services for anyone who has had any prior nightmares with building contractors in the Greater Tampa Bay Area. The one thing that stood out to us was Mott’s' willingness to go above and beyond their quote to ensure our satisfaction, without charging us for every minor adjustment. They were reasonable and honest, which is exactly what you are looking for in a contractor.

The Mott’s Contracting crew was very nice and respectful in our home. They were very happy to answer all my questions and come back out to correct one slightly raised board, as I wasn’t home the day they finished. I would, and will, use Mott’s Contracting again, as well as recommend them.
